Hello. I am Jeannie Bolstridge, a retired teacher who returned to our local primary school to offer volunteer tutoring in 2008. The mission of our nonprofit is to provide free afterschool tutoring/mentoring to young students who are learn differently. We start with the teamwork of these kid’s daytime teachers, their parents, and our staff. We then connect with the child’s passions and interests, and as our relationship and trust grows, the children begin to succeed, both academically and emotionally.
Pictured is the outside of the facility graciously donated to us the summer of 2011. We plan to continue tutoring here during after school hours for the 2011-2012 school year.
The following is an overview of our policy and procedures :
-Includes students by referral of our local public primary and elementary schools or by request of parents/caregivers
-Our staff consists of three groups of individuals:
- Our tutors are retired educators or other retired professionals.
- Our Mentors are parents or grandparents.
- Our Interns are college students whose career paths compliment what we are doing.
-We incorporate a variety of engaging strategies, including educational software and mobile apps, moving to learn, and DIR/Floortime .
-Core Standards of the Georgia Board of Education are supported.
-Canine Assisted Therapy incorporated when appropriate.
